This
section seeks to highlight the lives and subsequent works of those indivduals who have not only left a clear and lasting legacy upon the human race, but also on me. Perhaps these can be seen as people who (primarily through literary works) have provided me with some degree of inspiration, who may have led me to ask questions/captured my sense of wonder or people who through their works have acted to give my life greater meaning. ....my raison d'etre.
Of course
during my schooling I was introduced to the work of scientists such as Newton, and
through college education the Orwellian, Darwinian and Marxist theories/works
grabbed my attention.
Michael Foucault emerged during my University years, as did
the works of Albert Einstein. Stephen Hawking crossed my path as I moved into early adulthood and stumbled upon a 'brief history of time.'
Tolkein has been with me since childhood and provided the ultimate escape into middle earth - but other childhood authors also provided me with the same sense fo escapism - Enid Blyton, Ted Hughes, Richmal Crompton, the Brontes to name but a few.
Capturing the life and works of these great men and women, and including my own personal anecdtes and musings along the way will form the basis fo this section of the website.
