You're a funny man, Sully, I like you. That's why I'm going to kill you last.

In this film Schwarzenegger plays retired Colonel John Matrix, a special forces soldier who once led an elite unit and has since left the armed forces, resigned to live a peaceful life in a secluded mountain home with his daughter Jenny. However members of John's former unit are being picked off and killed, and even though he is assigned bodyguards supplied by general Franklin Kirby, Matrix is found and his daughter kidnapped.

After a shoot out at his home Matrix is captured by Bennett, a former member of his unit who was presumed to be dead. He is then taken to meet Arius, a warlord who demands that Matrix assassinates a political leader in his native land, from which Arius would assume power with his personal army. Of course if matrix refuses his daughter will be killed....and so he reluctantly accepts.

While aboard an airplane destined for the nation whose leader Matrix was to assassinate, Matrix kills the man assigned to watch him. Matrix then makes his way down to the landing gear, where he jumps out of the plane in the middle of take-off, landing in a small marsh. Setting his watch for the approximate time of the flight, Matrix sets out to find the whereabouts of Jenny before the plane lands. If he is noticeably absent Jenny will be killed.

matrix begins to target those men who work for Arius and kills the first of these, Sully, by dropping him off the side of a mountain. He and his female companion then end up at an arms warehouse, discovering the location of the island where Arius lives, and presumably where his daughter is being held. Matrix knows that he will need some firepower, and so breaks into a local gunshop, taking an extremely large amount of weaponry. After escaping the Police Matrix and Cindy commandeer a sea plane and land it off the coast of the island. Matrix then rows an inflatable raft ashore and proceeds to Arius' villa. At this point Matrix wages a one man war against the army resident on the island, destroying numerous buildings and vehicles along the way.

Once in the villa, Matrix confronts Arius in a gunfight. He kills Arius, unloading several shotgun shells into the man, when he hears Jenny calling from the basement. In the basement, Matrix finds Jenny, but not before Bennett finds Matrix, shooting him in the upper arm. The two then battle whilst his daughter can only watch.........
