Children of the Corn

"In the dream the lord did come to me and he was a shape...it was he who

               walks behind the rows"

The story begins three years before the present day in the quiet little town of Gatlin, Nebraska. A young boy, Job, describes how he and his father attended church whilst his little sister stayed at home...and how he was the only kid in church as all the others were in the corn fields with Isaac...but this tranquil image is broken by the slaying of all of the adults in the town by the children, led by Isaac and his right hand youth, Malachai.

We then move onto the present day, and a young couple, Burt and Vicky (Linda Hamilton) heading into the state of Nebraska. As they drive through the fields of corn they discover the body of a dead boy, a poor unfortunate who had attempted to leave Gatlin. Adament that he was murdered they pack him into the boot and head towards Gatlin, a mere four miles away. Meanwhile back in Gatlin Job and his sister, who has visions, remain as non believers, and after discovering that the town contains no adults the young couple end up at the youngsters house where they begin to learn the truth.

Isaac is the leader of a religious cult, a sect who worship a god like creature they know to be 'he who walks behind the rows.' This manifestation speaks to his congregation through Isaac, and on this day he wishes his followers to catch the 'outlanders' and sacrifice them to he who walks behind the rows. Vicky is soon captured, and used as bait to lure Burt into the fields. However the children have problems within, as Malachai loses faith in Isaac's obsession with ritual, Malachai feels that he who walks behind the rows wants blood shed and sacrifice, and in no time at all offers Isaac as a sacrifice. It is up to Burt to rescue his girlfriend before she is sacrificed, but he also needs to make sense of what is happening and repel the children of the corn. Lastly, and perhaps most terrifyingly he must battle with he who walks behind the rows.....
