Jonathan Rivers is a successful architect, and lives a peaceful life with his wife Anna and son Mike, until her unexpected and violent death (she had also told him that she was pregnant). Eventually, he is contacted by Raymond Price, who claims that his son has also died, and that he has recorded messages from Anna through EVP. While Jonathan is initially dismissive, he begins to believe that the recorded voice is indeed that of his wife.

John visits Raymond, whose home is stocked with all kinds of electronic equipment which he uses to record the deceased. Jon is impressed by what he sees and attempts to set up his own communication point. He becomes obsessed with trying to contact her himself, despite warnings from a psychic who tries to tell him how the recording can attract other, unwanted entities. He does make contact with his wife and she instructs him to embark on a number of missions to save people before their impending doom...however there are ominous signs when three ominous shadows continually appear on his television screen, of which initially he is not aware.....

He has failed to heed the warnings of a psychic regarding his meddling....and he will surely pay the price. Who are these uninvited entities and what have they in store for Jon....
