Evil Dead

                                                         "Join us......join us......."

The story begins with five students venturing into the wooded mountains of Tennessee to spend a weekend up at an isolated cabin. Whilst the cabin looks like it could fall down at any moment, all is quiet at sunset...until the cellar hatch opens by itself and noises are heard down in the dark. The two blokes (Ash and Scottie) go to investigate...and discover a loaded gun, a strange looking book and a tape recorder. They play the recording and discover that the owner of the cabin had recently returned with his wife..to continue his research. He had made a significant find in some ancient ruins...the book of the dead which was 'bound in human flesh and inked in human blood.' This book had the power to ressurect demons through the recital of passages within, and as the words are played on the tape something strange begins to happen....there is something circling the cabin...coming from the woods.....

Before we know it one of the girls (Cheryl) is lured outside by voices echoing the words 'join us.' After being attacked by the trees she desperately tries to flee...but the bridge is down and there's no way out. Before we know it Cheryl has been possessed, and tells the rest of her friends that they will all die. She then attacks Linda and the rest of the gang, before being shut in the cellar and the door chained up!!A further incite into these demons (from the tape recorder) reveals that the only way to kill them is through bodily dismemberment. One by one the group become possessed, leaving only our hero (Ash) to try and survive the night.

Can he see through the night? or will the demons that have possessed his friends take his soul??? This film is quite simply one of the best horror films of all time, and whilst it is somewhat dated the fright factor is still very much evident even to today's audiences.
