Child's Play

"You stupid little bitch...i'll teach you not to f**k with me"

At the start of the film there is a shoot out between Charles Lee Ray (The Lakeside Strangler) and Detective Mike Norris. Ray is shot and fatally wounded, but makes his way into a toy store before collapsing...end of story, I think not. He grabs a 'Good Guy' doll, utters some strange voodoo words and lightning strikes the doll...before we know it Ray is dead and all is well.

Somewhere in the suburbs resides a little boy celebrating his sixth birthday, but missing from his presents is something his mother (Katherine Barclay) cannot afford...a good guy doll. However her friend (Maggie Peterson) tells her that some strange peddler is selling such a doll cheaply, and before we know it little Andy Barclay has what he has always wanted. Despite it being her sons birthday Karen has to work late, and leaves her friend in charge of babysitting duties. However when Andy tells Maggie that Chucky (the name of his good guy doll) wants to watch the nine o clock news (it was going on about Ray's accomplice escaping police custody) the alarm bells start ringing. However before we know it Chucky picks up a hammer, hits Maggie over the head and she falls to her death from the apartment window.

The police it seems suspect Andy for the death, yet he maintains that Chucky did it. Later on he tells his mum that Chucky speaks to him, telling him that Maggie was a bitch and got what she deserved. As the film progress Ray's accomplice bites the dust, and Andy is shipped of to the local hospital for tests. It is mum who discovers that Chucky has been working without any batteries!!! When detective Norris finally puts two and two together (that Ray has possessed the doll) both he and Karen attempt to track down the evil doll. This is complicated by the fact that Chucky is becoming human, and needs to transfer his soul into the body of the first person he told his secret too...Andy Barclay. Its then a race to save the boy from the clutches of Chucky, who is hell bent on taking his body for himself.
