Star Wars V - Sci-Fi Movie Review, Cast & Crew, Transcript and Trailer

The Galactic empire continue tp pursue the Rebel Alliance across the galaxy, forcing them to establish a secret base on the remote ice planet Hoth. Darth Vader, obsessed with finding Skywalker, has sent probes to all parts of the galaxy and when they land on Hoth it is Skywalker who sees one land and goes to investigate. Things get work for Skywalker when he is knocked unconscious by an indigenous predator, a wampa, and he is next on its food menu. Back at the base Solo announces his intentions to leave and pay the debt he owes to gangster Jabba the Hut. However he is uneasy about the fact that Skywalker has not returned to the base, and goes out in search of him. After escaping the creatures lair Skywalker is overcome with cold, and sees an aparitionof the late Obi Wan, who tells him that he must seek out Master Yoda on the planet Dagobah for further training. Solo finds Luke and the couple are rescued in the morning by a rebel patrol. However y then the probe droids have transmited the location of the rebel base and whilst Vader orders the attack the rebel troops set up infantry trenches and activate an energy shield to protect them from the Empire.

The ground assault begins and Luke leads his squadron nto battle, engaging the army and its weaponry. However the imperial fleet eventually overpower the Rebels and destroy the generator powering the energy shield. After most of the Rebel ships evade the onslaught of the Empire and flee Solo, leia, C-3PO and Chewbacca escape on the Millenium Falcoln. However the Falcoln's hyperdrive has been damaged and it struggls to escape the imperial starfighters - before hiding I an asteroid field. Yet this itself presents danger, and after escapinga mysterious space creature the Falcoln is again trying to evade the imperial fleet. Meanwhile Luke and R2 - D2 escape Hoth and make their way towards the Dagobah system to seek out Master Yoda, to further undertake jedi training. Luke undegoes Yoda's rigorous lessons about the metaphysical nature of the force. Luke learns quickly and forsees Han Solo and leia in danger. he wants to rescue them yet Yoda and the ghost of Obi Wan warn of the dangers of rashly leaving, blieving him still susceptible to the powers of the dark side. Despite such warning he leaves, vowing to return to finish his training. Back in the Flacoln Solo manages to evade the imperial fleet and head towards Cloud City, a mining colony run by Solo's old friend Lando Calrissian. Calrissian appears pleased to see hs old friend, but it soon becomes apparent that he has struck a deal with the Empire, and they fall into Vader's hands....

Luke arrives at Cloud City and appears to be able to enter unchallenged - it seems Vader wants to take Luke to the Emporer, and isusing his friends as bait. Vader orders a carbon freezing chamber to be readied for luke, which will hold him in suspended animation. This process is tested on Solo, and he is then handed over to the bounty hunter Boba Fett, who intends to return his prize to Jabba the Hut for a large reward. Later luke meets Vader and engages him in combat. Llando meanwhile realises the error of his ways and frees leia and Chewbacca, and whilst they are too late to save Solo they make their escape in the Falcoln with both R2-D2 and C-3PO in attendance.

Elsewhere Luke and Vader duel fiercely - however Vader is far too strong for Luke and eventually he cuts off Luke's hand. Vader tells Luke he has lost, and also questions him about his knowledge of his father. Luke states that he is yet to discover the truth of his father, and so Vader reveals that he is Lukes father. Vader tries to persuade Luke to join him, embrace the Dark Side of the Force, and overthrow the Emperor with him. Luke refuses, lets go, and falls off the platform into the abyss, signifying that he would rather die than join him. In freefall, Luke is sucked into an air vent, shoots out of the underbelly of the floating city, and lands on an antenna hanging beneath. In the Millennium Falcon, Leia senses Luke's distress through the Force and orders Lando to pilot them back to Cloud City. After saving Luke and leaving the planet, they are pursued by Darth Vader's flagship. R2-D2, who discovered that the hyperdrive was merely de-activated while searching the city's central computer, reactivates it and the Falcon escapes into hyperspace.

Aboard a Rebel medical frigate, Luke is fitted with an artificial hand as Lando and Chewbacca set out in the Falcon to locate Han Solo.
