Q: What does the programme involve?
- 160 hours of attendance consisting of sessions run for one or two days per
week
- The core programme consists of four modules. Men can attend at the
beginning of any module
- High risk/high deviancy men will attend the core
group followed by Relapse Prevention (36 hours)
- Low risk/low deviancy men
will normally complete individual preparation work followed by the Relapse
Prevention Programme
- Offenders released from prison will follow similar
routes according to their assessment of risk and deviancy

Q: How did you get on the programme?
- As a condition of your Community Order,
imposed by the Court's.
- As a condition of your prison licence
- Your Probation Officer has decided
that this is a programme that is right for you, and you are
willing to attend and take part in the programme.
Q: What are the specific goals we aim
to achieve?
- To increase the way in which your
attitude and behaviour has affected that victim and those close
to the victim
- To confront denial and encourage an
increased level of responsibility
- To obtain a detailed analysis of the
offending behaviour
- To teach you ways of interrupting
your offending and increasing your ability to lead an abuse
free life
- To identify and examine attitudes
and perceptions which may have contributed to offending
behaviour
Q: Whilst on the programme you are expected
to....
- Co-operate fully with the programmes
staff
- Complete all work, including that
set away from the group
- Avoid using alcohol or drugs 24 hours
before group/individual meetings.
- Complete the pre-programme work with
your Probation Officer
- Attend all sessions. If you cannot
attend please notify a programmes tutor or your supervising
officer as soon as possible.
Q: Who is suitable?
Male sexual offenders who
- Are convicted of any sexual offence
including non contact sexual offences
- Are aged 21 or over
- Are assessed as suitable for the programme
within a PSR
- Are subject to a condition of attendance
in a community sentence or post custodial licence
Q: Who is not suitable?
- Female sex offenders
- Sex Offenders with an IQ of less that
80
- Men with severe drug use/alcohol behaviours
- Men assessed as psychopathic
- Men with current mental health
problems
- Men who are unable to speak English
- Men who are in complete denial of
their sexual offending
