Q. How long is the programme?
- You will be assessed to see what is
right for you in terms of the level of treatment required. At
this stage - without the right tests - we cannot say which parts
of the programme you will need to do.
- This programme is divided into four
main components
- Foundation block - A full time, full
day course which runs for two weeks
- Victim Empathy block - Two sessions
per week for four weeks. Each session lasts two hours
- Life Skills block - Two sessions per
week for ten weeks. Each session is for two hours.
- Relapse Prevention block - One evening
per week for six months, Each session last for two hours

offending

Q: How did you get on the programme?
- As a condition of your Community Order,
imposed by the Court's.
- As a condition of your prison licence
- Your Probation Officer has decided
that this is a programme that is right for you, and you are
willing to attend and take part in the programme.
Q: What are the specific goals we aim
to achieve?
- To increase the way in which your
attitude and behaviour has affected that victim and those close
to the victim
- To confront denial and encourage an
increased level of responsibility
- To obtain a detailed analysis of the
offending behaviour
- To teach you ways of interrupting
your offending and increasing your ability to lead an abuse
free life
- To identify and examine attitudes
and perceptions which may have contributed to offending
behaviour
Q: Whilst on the programme you are expected
to....
- Co-operate fully with the programmes
staff
- Complete all work, including that
set away from the group
- Avoid using alcohol or drugs 24 hours
before group/individual meetings.
- Complete the pre-programme work with
your Probation Officer
- Attend all sessions. If you cannot
attend please notify a programmes tutor or your supervising
officer as soon as possible.
Q: Who is suitable?
Male sexual offenders who
- Are convicted of any sexual offence
including non contact sexual offences
- Are aged 21 or over
- Are assessed as suitable for the programme
within a PSR
- Are subject to a condition of attendance
in a community sentence or post custodial licence
Q: Who is not suitable?
- Female sex offenders
- Sex Offenders with an IQ of less that
80
- Men with severe drug use/alcohol behaviours
- Men assessed as psychopathic
- Men with current mental health
problems
- Men who are unable to speak English
- Men who are in complete denial of
their sexual offending
