DRUG REHABILITATION REQUIREMENT (DRR)

  • About your sentence:

The Court has sentenced you to either a Suspended Sentence Order or a Community Order with one requirement being the Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR). Esentially the Court have decided that you have a problem with drug use, and that you need help in dealing with this issue. You have agreed prior to sentence to undertake this treatment. An assessment would have been conducted prior to assessment to discover the level ad intensity of treatment that you will receive.

This treatment could last from between 6 - 18 months (low - high intensity), and will involve counselling, substituter prescribing, drug testing, attending a day centre and working with other agencies. In high intensity treatment it could also include attendance to a drug related accredited programme (ASRO or OSAP).

  • Your 'Responsible Officer' will:
  • Explain your sentence to you and make it clear that you must attend the Drug specialists for treatment and testing
  • Explain what will happen to you if you fail to adhere to this requirement or avoid attending the treatment programme
  • Review your progress and assist you in completing the sentence sucessfully. this will also include appearances before the Court in relation to your progress.
