The Court has sentenced
you to either a Suspended Sentence Order or a Community Order with
one requirement being the Residence Requirement. This means
that you must live in a particular place for as long as the requirement
lasts. It could be your own home, someone elses home of a Probation
Approved bail Hostel or premises. During this timeyou willnot be
allowed to live anywhere else unless the officer responsible for
your sentence agrees.
- Your 'Responsible
Officer' will:
- Make it clear
where you will live and how long you wil live there
- Explain what
will happen to you if you fail to adhere to this requirement
- Review your progress
and assist you in completing the sentence sucessfully.
- Assist you with
move on accommodation as and when required
- Treat you fairly
and with respect
- Adhere to the
residence requirement
- Make sure that
you understand what is expected of you, and ask questions if
you do not know
- Demonstrate respect
to those Probation staff you come into contact with, and others
you meet during your sentence.
- Inform Probation
staff if there are changes to your circumstances; i.e. your
address of telephone number.
- If you are having
problems with your sentence tell the Probation Staff.
- Let your responsible
officer visit you at home if they need to
- If you are
taken back to Court, the Court may:
- Make you do more
requirements.
- Make you do different
requirements
- Make this requirement
or other requirements you are already doing more onerous.
- Send you to prison
Supervision is the
underpinning factor for most requirements proposed within Suspended
Sentence and Community Orders. Ths element is also used to completed
pre and post work for accredited programmes.
