COLONY

There is intelligent life in this universe other than our own, that they are here amongst                                         us...and they have begun to colonize.

The episode begins with a voice over from Mulder, who describes how his sister was taken from him when he was twelve by a force which he considered to be extra terrestrial. He says that this belief has sustained him in his quest for truth, yet to believe was not without sacrifice...to his career, his reputation, his relationships and to his life itself. We then see Mulder being rushed into hospital and Scully shouting that Mulder is dying. A further voiceover from Mulder states that what happened to him has justified every belief, and that if he should die now it would be in the certainty that his faith has been righteous, and if in death larger mysteries are revealed, he would have already learned the answer to the question that has driven him here - there is life in our universe other than our own, that they are here amongst us and they have begun to colonize. Scully meanwhile tells one of the doctors that Mulder is suffering from extreme hypothermia, and that it is this condition that is the only thing keeping him alive......

The episode then flashes back to two weeks previous, and a research vessel out in the Beaufort sea in the Arctic circle. The vessel crew observe something crashing to earth...and they vessel goes in search of the wreckage of what must be a UFO.

We then move to the Women's Care Fertility Services in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and a newsflash stating that the Crew of an Ice Cutter had seen a UFO, and that a short time later they had picked up a Russian fighter pilot. He survived the Arctic temperatures and is admitted to a military hospital in Alaska - however a short time later he walks out of the hospital and is missing. This pilot turns up at the building (Women's Care) and grabs hold of a male doctor, Dr Landon Prince, stabbing the back of his neck, resulting in the doctor oozing green blood and his body burning.

At FBI HQ Mulder reads an e mail he has received - three obituaries; Dr Landon Prince at Scranton, Dr Dale Gayard in New York City and Dr Harry Buchanan in New Jersey. All of these doctors worked in abortion clinics and all died in separate arson fires. However when Mulder looks at the photos he discovers that they all look alike, very alike, yet there is no connection between them. Mulder suggests that there must be more of these guys out there, and after looking at a map suggests that the killer is working to a pattern, moving in a northerly direction. The Agents also come across a newspaper clipping asking whether anyone had 'seen this man,' which was an identical picture of the three men already murdered. After checking to see who placed the ad and accessing the messages in the voicebox, they learn that the first identification was of someone in Syracuse, which is north. Mulder immediately calls the FBI field office and speaks to Agent Weisz, telling him to go to an address where he believes another doctor may live. However as Weisz looks into the window of the home he witnesses the Doctor and a man (who is the Russian pilot who killed the previous doctor and probably the rest) arguing - with the latter disposing of the Doctor as he had done the previous one - with the same result. When Mulder and Scully turn up at the address they find Weisz, who tells them he has not found anything. However as Weisz leaves he shapeshifts into the Russian pilot and walks away - leaving Mulder and Scully to learn that Weisz is dead.

Scully later receives a further e mail - a picture of one Dr James Dickens, who again looks the same as the other Doctors and lives in Washington. Mulder meanwhile is contacted by a CIA Agent, Ambrose Chapel, who tells him that he has also been documenting the case and was the one who placed the Newspaper Ad. He reveals that he has known of the Doctors existence for a decade, yet he had no idea that they were in the country until last year. He tells Mulder that early on in the Cold War Soviet scientists stumbled on a genetic anomolie in sets of identical twins, and as a result they were able to isolate the DNA material that gave them their physical features and reproduce clones. Chapel continues that the original clone, Gregor, entered the US on a German passport in the mid 1970s, with the same document bringing other clones in, several of which have obtained strategic positions, so that in the event of war they could contaminate blood supplies and sabotage pharmaceutical factories - essentially destroying the countries immune system. Mulder suggests that someone is allowing the Gregor clones to be systematically executed by a man which he believes to be the Russian spy killer, in exchange for the suppression of the programmes existence and to obtain the science that created it. Effectively this is state sanctioned murder and Mulder wants to find the truth, and informs Chapel that he knows where one of these clones may be....

At the Dickens residence Mulder and Chapel arrive and the Doctor runs, pursued by both Mulder and the CIA Agent. An unidentified female remains hidden in the flat, and it is Chapel who captures the Doctor - however rather than apprehend the Agent punctures the back of the Doctors neck and he died like the rest. Chapel then tells Mulder that the Doctor must have escaped. Back at FBI HQ Scully finds that Chapel is not the real Chapel, and she further begins to carry out an autopsy on Agent Weisz body, which was found in his car trunk, where she finds little to go on. However what she does find is an address from the last murdered Doctor's possessions, 3243 Edmonton, and she makes her way to the abandoned factory. Mulder meanwhile receives an urgent call from his father, who tells him to return home quickly. At the Edmonton address Scully finds green slime on the floor and someone is also in the room destroying what appear to be living specimens...its Chapel, and he gives chase. Scully escapes and calls Mulder, leaving him a message.

In Massachusetts Mulder meets his father, and sees his mother talking to a young woman....his sister. Samantha tells Mulder that she has no memory of where she has been other than being tested on by strange beings. She tells Mulder she is in danger from the man who is hunting her adoptive father and the other Doctors...and that this man is a bounty hunter who will also come for her. She tells Mulder that the hunter has the ability to disguise himself as anyone...leading Mulder to immediately phone Scully....however on this occasion she is not answering her cell phone.

Scully meanwhile is keeping a low profile following the events of the previous evening - nevertheless she heads back to the Edmonton address. There she finds four other Doctors who claim to be the last remaining...and they want Scully to protect them. Whilst they are transferred to a maximum security unit (the Federal Stockade in Virginia) what appears to be the boss of the facility enters....however it turns out to be the bounty hunter and he kills them all. Scully then receives a call from Mulder and they decide to meet up........

To be continued......
