DIE HARD DIE VERLETZT |
I never thought it would work.....im scared of it.....we have called up some devil.
The episode begins with a meeting of the faculty of a high school in Milford, New Hampshire. The attendees include the principal, the assistant principal, the gym teacher and the school psychologist - and whilst the meeting takes on a typical format, they end the meeting rather unusually....with a satanic prayer. Meanwhile in nearby woodland a group of teens, comprising of Shannon, Andrea, Dave and Jerry, get together to play around with black magic. The experiment causes unexplainable things to happen, such as fire erupting from the ground, and rats swarming to the location. The next day one of the kids, Jerry Stevens, is found dead and mutilated, and Mulder and Scully are called in to investigate. Locals claim that the children have unleashed a demonic force in their rituals, a theory which is given validity by strange occurrences. The Agents see what appears to be a ceremonial alter and a book on the occult, which can be traced back to the library it was taken out from. Before the agents leave the woodland toads begin falling from the sky....something peculiar is happening and the local folklore may hold some truth..... At Crowley High School, the same location as the earlier meeting, Mulder traces the person who took the book out (titled the History of the Occult) to Dave Duran, one of the four teens who had been out the previous night. The Agents enter the class room and he bolts, with the Agents also seeing the strange looking, newly installed substitute teacher, Mrs Paddock. Dave is caught and he explains that he was 'not interested in that sort of thing' and that he didn't think it would work - he is clearly frightened. Away from view of the agents the teachers involved in the original meeting gather, with accusations that one of them must have killed the boy the previous night. The substitute teacher meanwhile offers her sympathy and support to the two young females also identified as being present in the woodland - although as they leave Mrs Paddock opens her desk drawer....revealing a heart and an eyeball. Mulder meanwhile finds himself in the school psychologists office, questioning him as to the high levels of students with depression and headaches. Scully meanwhile researches on the Internet, finding that the area had been prone to a conspiratorial organization of dark forces evident in Nazi newspapers. The plot thickens.... Back in the classroom Mrs Paddock asks the students to dissect pig embryo's, where Shannon Ausbury is one such student. She appears to experience some form of hallucination - the pig embryo moves - and she runs, with Mulder in pursuit. She discloses that Jim Ausbury, her stepdad, is a member of the PT Committee, and that her real dad left when she was very young. She discloses that she was sexually abused by him at a young age, and that lately she was remembering other things that had occurred. She says that men and women would come to the house when her mother was away, and that they would be wearing robes and chanting, and that she and her sister would be made to 'do things.' She describes how she was labeled a breeder - someone who they would get pregnant and then kill the babies - and that this all took place in the basement of their home. Mulder and Scully take her home, and Jim denies all that the Agents had been told - although as Mulder attempts to enter the cellar the door is shut by an unseen force and he is warned that the 'devil travels in many forms.' Shannon meanwhile is resisting the pig dissection alone with Mrs Paddock, who holds her jewellery. Paddock undertakes some sort of ritual with the jewelry and Shannon kills herself by slashing her wrists. Back at the school the four teachers reconvene and acknowledge that dark angels are among them - and that ultimately they have not kept their faith and need a sacrifice. They decide that Jim's daughter must be sacrificed, and that following her death everything can be blamed on her, getting the Police and FBI off their backs. Mulder and Scully meanwhile find charred jewelry in the substitute teachers office and begin to question her arrival. Apparently the man she replaced has had 2 sick days in a 15 year career and no staff members can recall hiring her. Whilst Scully attempts to look into Paddocks background Mulder returns to the Ausbury house and Jim divulges information about his religion, stating that he had not abused children but that they were included in rituals. Mulder then receives a phone call from Scully at the school telling him she is in trouble - so he handcuffs Ausbury in the cellar and leaves. However Ausbury doesn't last long - a snake slithers into the cellar and eats him. At the school Scully is fine, and she and Mulder go back to the Ausbury house, where they discover nothing but bones, snake tracks and skin.... The three teachers left discover that Jim has been killed and begin to panic. Mulder and Scully head back to the school and find Mrs Paddock on the floor and bleeding - and she implicates the other three teachers. They go to find the teachers and are themselves attacked by them - and just as it looks as though Mulder and Scully will die at the hands of the satanic cult the teachers turn and kill each other - with Mrs Paddock orchestrating some form of ritual with their personal possessions. Mulder and Scully quickly realise that Paddock has orchestrated the whole thing - clearing out all of the threats to her religion. As they rush back to the classroom Paddock has gone - leaving them with a message on the blackboard. It reads....'Goodbye - nice working with you.'
