"With Myer's gone I hope he transfers, retires or dies" (on Dr Loomis)

 What we start with in the fourth installment is a patient pick up from Smith's Grove, and the patient to be transferred is....Michael Myer's. Well if they had learned something from the first two films surely it was that Michael cannot be controlled....and no sooner is he being transported than the vehicle ends up in some river...and Michael's body is nowhere to be found!!! Poor Loomis, who is also still on the hospital staff, has been badly scarred from the hospital fire and now has to walk with a cane.

In the quiet old town of Haddonfield lives Michael's niece, Jamie, a seven year old child who is being cared for by foster parents. Whilst her foster parents make every effort to accommodate the little girl her older foster sister, Rachel, doesn't seem too impressed at having a sister. No sooner is Michael gone than Dr Loomis is back on the trail....he knows where Michael is going and why he is going there. He quickly introduces himself to the new town Sheriff (Meaker) and they set about trying to protect the townsfolk, and in particular little Jamie.

From the first two films there is a ten year gap, that is ten years ago Myer's attempted to kill his only living relative (Laurie Strode). However with her out of the picture he now wants her daughter. Of course the police do not want a repeat of what happened in their town all of those years ago, and neither do the residents, who set about taking justice into their own hands by forming vigilante groups.

The film careers towards a tense finale at the Sherrie's house....with Michael coming up against the Sherrie, Dr Loomis, Jamie's foster sister and of course Jamie herself. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger and certainly leaves a large void for the following installment to fill...
