Friday 13th - Part IX

"In my professional opinion.....this guy is deader than shit"

The film opens with a sting operation which relies on agent Elizabeth Marcus as bait. She's all alone is a spooky, empty house, yet her bath is spoilt by the entrance of Jason, who is no doubt in no mood to join her. After a hectic chase we witness the successful killing of the person we believe to be Jason - he is pumped full of bullets and blown up, so much so that I couldn't count the parts of his body with an abacus. So the operations is a complete success, Jason is dead, and there's still 90 odd minutes of the film to go???

Enter Creighton Duke (Steve Williams) who hunts serial killers for a living. Duke makes an on cameral statement that Jason is in fact still alive, and even proposes to send him to hell for a fee ($500,000), which a news programme promptly accepts. This is followed by a series of murders around Crystal lake as Jason jumps from body to body. As Duke himself states, 'only through a Vorhees will he die, only through a Vorhees will he be reborn - and it is at this point that you begin to feel sorry for Jason's relatives. In this film we meet Diana, who is Jason's sister, and her daughter (Jessica) and granddaughter.

Whether Jason seizes his opportunity to reborn is something you will have to find out by watching the film. In my opinion it's a must see, and the ending offers much food for thought......
