We begin this sequel with the news that tragedy has befallen the small community of Gatlin, with over fifty bodies found in varying states of composition, which accounts for about half the town. However there are a bunch of survivors...some children...who simply utter that 'they saw the corn.' These survivors are placed with foster families in nearby Hemingford...of course not all the residents are pleased about these placements...with the feeling that Hemingford may suffer in the same way as Gatlin. Meanwhile John, a reporter, and his son are on the way to get the story at Gatlin, and from the off it is clear that Danny has little respect for his father.
No sooner are they settled in Hemingford than the Gatlin kids regroup, and it is agreed that they must wait for 'he who walks behind the rows.' They feel that they must wait for signs of his presence, and decide that the first such sign would result in the death of a nosey old woman who believes the children to be 'evil.' However this is just the beginning, and the emergence of a new leader, Micah, signals further deaths in the community...and it is the children who are responsible.
Meanwhile the intrepid reporter who has stuck around, John, begins to investigate the strange goings on, and enlists the help of an Indian (Redbear) who recalls a legend of a tribe who adults became lazy and abused the land and animals, and so the children rebelled and killed their parents...is their a connection??? More deaths, a sinister plot by some of the adults of Hemingford, and Micah believing that the children of Gatlin and Hemingford must unite leads to some suspenseful viewing, and when both John and his son get caught up in the events they are both in great danger and must battle he who walks behind the rows on the night of the harvest moon......
