Resident Evil |
The T-virus is protean, changing from liquid to airborne to blood transmission, depending on its environment. It is almost impossible to kill.
The film begins with a male tossing a glass tube containing a blue substance inside a lab. Minutes later the automated security system kills everyone in the facility through various means ranging from drowning scientists in a sealed lab, to suffocating trapped employees with halon gas to dropping an elevator full of people..... A female, Alice, later awakens in a shower inside a mansion with no recollection of her identity. As she explores the mansion she is captured by a man and the two are immediately seized by a group of commandos. The man grabbing Alice turns out to be a police-officer, Matt Adison. The commandos open a mirror-door to an underground train-station. On the train they discover another unconscious victim suffering amnesia, a male (Spence). The two amnesiacs as well as the commandos turn out to be employees of the Umbrella corporation. The train takes them to The Hive, an underground research facility located beneath nearby Racoon City, revealed to be the place where the horrific events at the beginning take place. The commando team has been dispatched to figure out why the Hive's defensive computer, Red Queen, killed all Umbrella staff. She is also responsible for launching a nerve gas in the mansion which has caused Alice and Spence's amnesias, but throughout the film Alice begins to have glimpses of her past..... The crew make their way to the Queen's chamber, but many are killed and only a handful of the team survive. The Queen is shut down, but this results in the re-animation of the undead staff and experiments from stasis. Of course these creatures are not friendly, and attack the group. They end up back in the chamber and need to switch the computer system back on in order to learn more about the mysterious T-virus. As the group learn more, and identify the existence of an antidote, memories of what had happened previously begin to return to our amnesiacs...and it seems that the group of survivors are not united in the common cause!!! How many of the group will survive....and can they find the antidote.....will the group turn on each other, and what agenda's do these individuals have.....There are of course twists and turns and for a horror flick its certainly worth the watch.
