Cannibal Ferox

       The following feature is one of the most violent films ever made. There are at least two

             dozen scenes  of barbaric torture and sadistic cruelty graphically shown. If the presentation

                        of disgusting and repulsive subject matter upsets you, please do not view

                                      this film.

This movie focuses on three anthropology students; Gloria (Lorraine De Selle), Rudy (Bryan Redford), and Pat (Zora Kerowa) -- who travel to the Amazon to research a paper asserting that cannibals do not exist.  They initially attempt to drive to their destination - however when the jeep gets stuck it is clear that they will need to travel on foot. As they make their way through the undergrowth the three stumble across Mike Logan, and it transpires that he is looking for some diamonds. He recalls how he learned of the location of the diamonds and decided to make the journey with his companion, who is also present.

However what the group do not learn until later is that Logan loses the plot when the natives, whom he had prospecting for him, fail to find any diamonds. He returns to the village and kills some of the natives, including tying one of the natives and cutting off genitalia. When one of the party become injured the group find themselves back at the native village, which is occupied only by native women and children (the men are nowhere to be found). There they tend to Logans companion (who later dies) and Logan himself gets friendly with one of the two women (Pat). They disappear the following morning, only to return when they are found by the native men. Logan is strung up and castrated - yet still kept alive, and the other three are kept as prisoners. They are later transported to another part of the forest, and when Rudy attempts to make his escape he is savaged by pirahnas and finished off by the natives. Whilst a search of the forest by the authorities gets underway for the missing group, the two women are tortured and kept alive, as is Logan, who eventually has the top of his head chopped off.

When one of the two women, Pat, is strung up and tortured to death, inclusive of being spiked through her breasts, it seems that one of the natives takes a shine to Gloria and helps her to escape. The film then switches back to the USA and her paper gaining recognition by the University - a paper which suggests that Cannibalism in native societies does not exist....
