"We shall feast upon your souls"

This film picks up directly from the end of the second installment. Ash (still Bruce Campbell) is sucked into some kind of vortex and ends up in 1300AD. Despite being taken captive by King Arthur and his men, John the wiseman realises that Ash is the one written about in the Necronomicon, 'he that is sent back to deliver us from the deadites.' However Arthur believes him to be one of his arch enemies men, Duke Henry the Red, who is also captured.  After defeating some strange creatures in a pit, Arthur begins to catch onto the fact that this guy is whom the wiseman says he is. The wiseman explains to Ash that only the book can send him back to his time and he must go on a quest to retrieve it, with the warning that should the deadites get their hands on the Necronomicon then they will be screwed.

Ash learns that the book is located in a cemetery and sets of. Along the way he is attacked by evil little versions of himself, and a lifesize version too!! When he eventually arrives at the cemetery he needs to recite three words correctly or the army of the deadites will arise, and I guess by the title of the film he messes up. The army do rise, and are led by...Ash's evil twin!!

Ash hot foots it back to the castle with the book, but rather than escape back to his time he decides to stay and fight. The Army of the dead head for the castle where Arthur and his army, and later Henry the Reds army, join forces to battle with the army of the dead. A battle of all battles ensues, will Ash emerge victorious and can he get back to his own time...or are there yet more twists?? This film does not compare to the first two, and in my opinion relies too much on humour (which I didn't find amusing). However it is still worth the watch, and of course it completes the trilogy of Evil Dead films.
