Child's Play III |
"Just like the good old days....nothing like a strangulation to get the circulation going..."
The third installment begins at the Good Guys factory where a big cleanup is under way, including the mangled body of Chucky. However some of his blood falls into a big vat, which is filled with the plastic which makes the dolls. We are now eight years into the future, and after all of the law suits and negative publicity surrounding young Andy Barclay, and the company are just getting themselves back on their feet. Yet in the boardroom there are arguments for the company to produce more Good Guys, and despite opposition Mr Sullivan (the boss) decides to give the go ahead for production. As a consequence He is presented with the very first doll off the production line, and it doesn't take Chucky long to dispose of him using his old MO. His next port of call is to look up an old friend, Andy Barclay, who has recently been remanded to Kent Military School. Chucky cleverly mails himself to the academy but a little boy, Tyler, opens the package himself..finding a good guy doll whom he claims as his own. Of course Chucky isn't too pleased (Who the f**k are you) and tracks Andy down 'You cant keep a good guy down,' but decides he is going to kill him as he has some fresh meat lined up (the thinking behind this is that his soul is in a new doll). We know from the first too films that Andy has some fight in him, and so as those around him drop like flies, he manages to avoid the clutches of the killer doll, concentrating instead on saving Tyler's life. The film shifts from the school to the annual war games, and finally to a fairground, leading to a confrontation between Chucky and his little hostage, and Andy and his new girlfriend De Silva. Chucky seems to be a little obsessed with playing 'hide the soul,' yet Tyler and Andy have other ideas. Will Chucky finally get to complete his game and rid himself of the plastic body he has been trapped in for years, or will Andy once again emerge the victor of the latest battle. This film is in my opinion blends horror and humour, and whilst not as sinister as the first, Chucky's sense of humour had me in stitches.
